Awakening Leadership: An Indic Approach

Anaadi Foundation and Vision India Foundation

21-27 December 2016

Rishikesh, India

Swami Vivekananda said "Supreme value of youth period is incalculable and indescribable. The way in which you utilize this period will decide the nature of coming years that lie ahead of you. Your happiness, your success, your honor and your good name all depend upon the way in which you live now, in this present period. Remember this. This wonderful period of the first state of your life is related to you as the soft wet clay in the hands of the potter".

Young people are filled with energy and enthusiasm. This energy and enthusiasm when put to the right use can transform the lives of the individual, the society, and nation at large. Adopting the right frameworks and worldviews can help them bring about this transformation. What they need are tools that help them act with dynamic and vibrant energy that is rooted in inner stability. The Indian tradition offers us frameworks and tools through its well developed philosophies, knowledge systems and integrated lifestyle practices.

This youth centric retreat, with an Indic approach, will provide young people with the mental tools to awaken their leadership potential. Leadership is not just to do with leading a team of people but developing a sense of ownership in whatever one takes up. This retreat will enable people to imbibe the qualities that make for a true leader: compassion, vision for the larger good, a sense of ownership, self-reliance, energetic action, decision-making with clarity, inspirational stewardship and self-poise.

Vision India Foundation

Vision India Foundation (VIF) is a non-profit initiative by faculty and alumni of various IITs. We are a platform for the brightest youth of the country to participate in the modern nation-building movement. We invest in human capital to bring about systemic transformation in public policy and governance.

We believe that talent, technology, and thought are three pillars to bring about systemic reform. Consequently, we are focused on identifying and grooming young minds and developing appropriate tools to support them. To achieve our goal we have partnered with state governments, cities, elected representatives, quasi-government organizations, grassroots organizations, and academicians. VIF through its ambassador network has a wide network of campuses across the globe. This network is used to reach out to the brightest minds willing to invest their life for this cause.

We have designed various classroom and field-based education and training programs. The participants in these programs enter our talent pipeline and are supported long term to chart their careers as change agents. The VIF fellowship is a 3-year full-time program for change agents. It has a focus on both field-work and research. VIF research focuses on urban local governance, foreign affairs, rethinking education and rethinking development.
